Let me start by talking myself out of a sale.

If you're considering window replacement in Everett because a salesperson told you it'll slash your heating bill, I want you to sit down for this: you're probably not going to see it. Not in a way that shows up on your statement and makes you feel good about the check you wrote.

I'm Jeremiah Wallace, and I run Wallace Roofing & Exterior Construction out of Lake Stevens. I could sell windows the way the industry usually sells windows. I'm not going to, because there are companies that made those promises and got put out of business for it, and because I have to keep living in this county.

Here's the honest version.

Are New Windows Worth It in Everett?

Yes. Just not for the reason you've been told.

The reason is comfort. And I know "comfort" sounds like the soft answer, the thing you say when you don't have a number. Stay with me, because comfort is not soft when it's your house in February.

If you're going from old aluminum windows to a modern vinyl energy-efficient package, the difference is immediate and physical. Standing near that window stops being unpleasant. Sitting in the chair by the window becomes a thing you want to do again. That corner of the room that everybody avoided in winter rejoins the house.

I replaced the aluminum windows in my own home with a vinyl efficient package. The comfort difference was significant and I noticed it right away. The energy bill? That's a much more complicated story.

Curious what your windows are actually doing? Free evaluation, no pitch. Call or text (206) 312-2202.

Why Window Replacement Won't Fix Your Energy Bill Alone

Your windows are one piece of a much larger system, and they get blamed for a lot of crimes committed by the rest of the house.

Insulation in the walls. Insulation in the crawl space. Insulation in the attic. Air sealing. The condition of your doors. How your ductwork runs. Every one of those affects what you pay to heat your home in Everett, and several of them matter more than your windows do.

So when someone hands you a number — "these windows will save you X dollars a year" — ask them how they calculated it without knowing what's in your attic. Watch what happens.

Measured over thirty years, sure, better windows might make a dent. But if the pitch is that new windows pay for themselves through energy savings, that's not an investment strategy, that's a story. And it's the specific story that has ended companies.

I'd rather tell you what windows actually deliver and let you decide if that's worth it to you. Most people, once they understand it's about comfort, decide yes. Some decide their money is better spent on attic insulation first, and I'll tell them that too, even though nobody pays me to install insulation.

Signs Your Windows in Everett Actually Need Replacing

Old is not the same as failing. Here's how to tell the difference.

They're getting hard to open. Aluminum windows in particular get stubborn as they age. If opening a window has become a two-handed negotiation, that's not you getting weaker.

Condensation building up on the frames. Aluminum conducts temperature beautifully, which is a wonderful quality in a pan and a terrible one in a window. When it's cold outside and warm inside, that frame sweats. Persistent moisture leads to mold, and mold leads to a conversation nobody wants to have.

Fogging between the panes. If there's moisture inside the glass unit itself, the seal has failed. That window is no longer doing the job it was built for, and you cannot fix it by cleaning it, though I understand the impulse.

Drafts you can feel. Walk your house on a genuinely cold Everett morning with a bare hand and just feel around the window frames. Your hand is a surprisingly good diagnostic tool.

Noise. If you can hear conversations from the sidewalk, the glass package is thin and outdated.

What Actually Makes a Window Energy Efficient

Since we're being straight with each other, here's what matters inside the unit.

The glass package is the most energy-relevant part of the window. Not the frame, not the brand name on the sticker. The glass. The number of panes, what's between them, and the coatings on them do the majority of the actual work.

The frame material matters too, differently. Vinyl, wood, aluminum, and fiberglass all behave differently in our climate. Aluminum conducts temperature, which is why those old frames sweat. Vinyl doesn't, which is a large part of why the upgrade feels so different immediately.

We install Milgard Windows and Doors, and I'll explain the glass package and frame options in plain language during your evaluation. Not because it's a required part of the pitch, but because a homeowner who understands what they're buying makes a better decision and is happier a year later.

How to Spot a Bad Window Sales Pitch in Everett

Consider this the public service section.

Watch for "today only" pricing. If the number expires when the salesperson leaves your house, the number was never real. Legitimate pricing survives you thinking about it overnight.

Watch for specific savings guarantees. Covered this already, but it's the single biggest red flag in the window industry and it deserves the repetition.

Watch for a quote with no measurements. If nobody measured your windows, nobody knows what your windows cost.

Watch for a sit-down that runs three hours. A long presentation is a pressure tactic dressed as thoroughness. I can explain your window options in about twenty minutes and you can have the rest of your evening.

Watch for a large deposit up front. Materials require a deposit. An enormous one funds somebody else's cash flow problem, and you don't want to be the solution to it.

Getting quotes right now and something feels off? Call me at (206) 312-2202. Even if you hire someone else, I'll happily tell you whether what you're looking at is reasonable. I do it constantly and it costs me nothing.

Windows, Siding, and the Efficient Order of Operations

If you're planning both windows and siding, sequence matters, and getting it wrong is expensive.

Siding and windows meet each other at the trim, the flashing, and the weather barrier. Doing them together — or in a deliberate order with one contractor accountable for both — means those connections get done as a system instead of as two crews improvising around each other's work.

We've handled multi-phase exterior projects in this area: roofing first, then full siding with gutters and paint, then windows. One point of contact, one standard, one person you call when you have a question. If you're weighing several exterior projects and don't know what order makes sense, that conversation is free and it will probably save you money.

What Working With Us Looks Like

The evaluation is free and it's a real one. Someone comes to your house, looks at your actual windows, measures them, and tells you what they see.

You'll get straight answers, including the unprofitable ones. If your windows have plenty of life left, I'll say so. If your comfort problem is really an insulation problem, I'll say that too. If replacement makes sense, you'll understand exactly why before you see a price.

Financing is available through Hearth, with a sixty-second pre-qualification that doesn't affect your credit. I chose them specifically because they don't charge dealer fees — which means I don't have to inflate my pricing by ten or twelve percent to cover the cost of offering you attractive financing. A lot of "zero interest, zero payments" offers are quietly funded by exactly that markup. Look into any financing you're offered before you sign it, mine included.

And you'll hear from us throughout. Where we are, when we're coming, what we found. Communication is the thing most contractors are missing, and it's the thing my customers mention most.
