Question

“What happens on the day of a roof replacement?”

Jeremiah's answer

Summary:

Jeremiah says the day of the replacement should hold no surprises, because the roofer should have already walked the homeowner through every step well beforehand. The first thing a homeowner will notice on day one is a dumpster delivered directly to the driveway, positioned close enough to the roof that material coming off goes straight into it rather than being spread around the property. Next the crew arrives and begins removing material in sections, working face by face depending on how many faces the roof has. Material delivery follows. He notes that all of this, dumpster delivery, material delivery, and the crew starting the tear-off, happens within a two hour window for his company. His stated priority is avoiding material scattered around the property, and he describes being very disciplined about planning the project and making sure the homeowner is acutely aware of what will happen on day one.

Answer:

The day of the roof replacement project, hopefully you know about this far before it ever occurs, meaning that the roofer actually describes to you what the steps in the process are going to look like. But for us, day one of the project, the first thing you'll notice is a dumpster is delivered directly to your driveway, if you have a driveway. The goal is to have that dumpster close enough to the roof so we can mitigate all the materials coming off right into the dumpster and they're not being spread out around the property. The second thing that will occur is that the crew will show up and they'll start removing the material in sections. So they'll start on face A or face B or face C, D, E, F, depending upon how many faces to the roof there are. The next step after that is the material is delivered. That all happens for us within a two hour window. Dumpster delivery, material delivery, crew shows up and starts removing. The last thing I want to do is have all that scattered around. We're very disciplined when it comes to planning the project out and making sure that the homeowner is acutely aware of what's going to be happening on day one.
