Monroe is where the Sky Valley begins, and its heavily wooded neighborhoods are some of the hardest on roofs in the county. Monroe is one of the three towns, with Sultan and Gold Bar, that we name first when we talk about tree cover. Wallace Roofing & Exterior installs Milgard windows and doors in Monroe, and we install them the way the manufacturer requires: square, sealed, with a sill pan and head flashing so water sheds out of the wall instead of into it. In our climate that matters more than any sticker on the glass.

Rainfall increases as you move toward the Cascade foothills, and the fir and cedar canopy over Chain Lake, Woods Creek and the hills above town keeps roofs wet and buried in needles. Moss control is not optional in Monroe. For every Monroe window we remove the old unit, inspect and repair the framing, set a sill pan, flash the opening to shed water outward, set the window plumb and square, seal it and integrate the flashing with the siding.

Housing ranges from 1970s ramblers near downtown to newer Fryelands subdivisions and acreage out Woods Creek and Chain Lake Road with long driveways and big roofs. Windows come out and go in one at a time on an Monroe job, so an opening is never left exposed to the weather. We plan the schedule around the forecast and photograph the framing before the new unit goes in.
When we replace siding and windows together in Monroe, the two are flashed as one system, which is the best possible outcome for a wall in Western Washington. Many of our homeowners phase roofing, siding and windows over a couple of years.
